Computer Gaming, traditionally thought of as a male dominated (by male I mean acne stricken, Star Trek addicted, greasy haired, lonely, socially awkward, pizza eating nerd), has under gone a great deal of changes in the last five years. First and foremost among these changes is technology, followed second by popularity. No longer is computer gaming the arena of those bereft of any social existence, we are now witnessing the advent of the computer jock or jockette; males of athletic build and some level of social skills as well as the emergence of females as avid and formidable gamers.

Girls have emerged as a power to be reckoned with. All girl battle teams, fight squads, and gaming leagues have become common place. I have seen many instances in which an all girl squad will wipe the cyber-floor when battling an all male squad. The skills, eye-hand coordination, and above all - teamwork that the girls display is beyond the capability of the average team of boys.

This site is dedicated to gaming, and in particular, the emergence of girls into the gaming arena. In the coming weeks I will construct forums for contact, discussions, team recruiting, and general yapping where girls (and those that appreciate them) may gather to discuss gaming.

I know my color scheme is horrible; my design is lacking, and my banner just overall sucks. I will be working on these things as I obtain feedback and ideas from the community. Once the site gets rolling, I will be featuring a "girl gamer of the month" complete with information she provides concerning: her favorite game, best screen shot, RL picture (if desired), games stats, motto, and other such relevant tidbits of information. Any personal photos submitted should contain the subject holding a sign (piece of paper, marker on the skin somewhere, etc. Something to help ensure the picture is authentic and submitted with the consent of the subject).

Please send any constructive ideas or submissions to admin at girlsofgaming.com. I will create more formal mechanisms for ideas and submissions as I evolve the site. For now, please bear with me :)
